The collection contains the manuscripts for the novels "Agnes Surriage," "The Merrikids," "Nimport," and "Zachary Phipps," together with with manuscripts for several stories and an essay. Correspondence of Bynner includes a reply to an autograph hunter, a complaint about books given him to review, and discussions of publication matters including a detailed letter of rejection from Horace E. Scudder for the "Atlantic Monthly" and an exchange with "A. B. Storey" of Harper's Young People concerning his novel "The Merrikids." Emily Elizabeth Dickinson was born in Amherst, Massachusetts, on December 10, 1830 to Edward Dickinson (AC 1823) and Emily Norcross Dickinson.
